BAGNOZA is a common project of Urszula Pieregończuk and Mariusz Libel, undertaking questions about the nature of the world, the future of man, the sense of his existence within philosophy, science and humanities.
The title is a neologism, referring to knowledge (gnosis), entangled in various contexts – fashions, systems and ideologies that make the path of cognition never clear and simple, and often resembles a swampy area full of ambushes. The theme of the exhibition touches on constantly reoccurring threads in our culture, concerning the foundations and assumptions of civilization, cyclically demanding new answers to the permanent principle of progress. It is a story of being who seeks to justify himself in a complicated system of illusions.
The presentation consists of a series of paintings that formally combine image with typography. They are accompanied by paintings carried out on gallery walls. The union of these elements, i.e. form, content and context, allows for the emergence of a special kind of work in which the sense and its carrier, complementing one another, broaden the spectrum of the semantic field. Part of the exhibition shows the documentation of the creative process of joint work of both artists.

Urszula Pieregończuk (born 1984) is a graduate of the Faculty of Arts at UMCS in Lublin. Since 2009, she has been making short films on the border between theater and cinematography. Their themes oscillate around the problems of an individual thrown into the course of history, whose problems are confronted or are caused by its confusion in the modern world. She is a producer, director, screenwriter, set designer and editor of her films. In addition, she deals in painting and installation. She is a laureate of the second prize and audience award in the Samsung Art Master competition (2011) and the second prize at the IN OUT festival (2014).
Mariusz Libel (born 1978) has been active in the field of art in public space for many years. In the years 1998-2011 together with Krzysztof Sidorek he created the legendary artistic group Twożywo. Since 2011, he has been implementing individual projects, such as murals, illustrations, templates, internet projects, publishing projects, posters. It represents urban art and design engaged, combining philosophical reflection and critical reflection on contemporary social reality. He is the laureate of the Polityka Passport (2006), several scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Young Poland program.
